Giving Our Creative Impulses Room To Breathe

It's understandable that we don't want to take up activities we find undesirable or ones we find difficult to get through. Some of us are quite adept at procrastinating, while others are skilled at avoiding certain tasks altogether.

But when we take a moment to think about and identify what really excites us or what we might enjoy, you have to wonder why so many of us still don't take the initiative to engage. Why is it hard to try something new, or practice an activity we like, as a beginner?

At what point in our lives did we encounter something that blocked our desire to explore and experiment?

What was it that impeded our impulse to play and create, without evaluating our engagement as a measure of success or failure, and be okay with being that beginner and not an expert.

What are the obstacles that have thwarted our excitement from growing, and turned down the heat on what was simmering inside of us?

Taking small steps toward opening up to more of what inspires us is a way to reclaim the inert potential of any spark, looking for a chance to grow into a flame.
